Streetbrew: An App for All Seasons

Just discovered a neat little app the other day called Streetbrew. I know, the world is awash in apps these days and just about everybody claims theirs is the best or has the latest, kitschy-est new features, but Streetbrew really deserves a look–especially if you’re into the local scene in your area.

What is it? It is a hybrid app, of sorts, integrating a lot of popular social media functions like posting to a wall (micro-blogging), liking/disliking things, creating user reviews of places and things, interfacing with friends, playing online games and more. In short, this one robust little app that can do a lot of things.

For example, businesses can create a micro-blog (wall page) about their location, showcasing their goods, services, and special promotions. Other Streetbrew users in the area can see what they have on offer and check it out for themselves. Once the customers are there, they can upload photos, streaming videos, leave reviews, and chat about what they really like and what might need improvement.

The app is completely free to use and is easy to set up with Facebook and Twitter, as well as other popular social media marketing apps. Further, you can visit a location and check-in (a nod to FourSquare’s GPS-based system). If a business you’re in doesn’t have a presence on Streetbrew, and you convince them to get one (especially with the app’s “premium” services), you can get paid by Streetbrew for the referral. Cool, yes?

The app is only in version 1.50, so it’s still developing and there are some bugs in it. However, it is an ambitious and powerful app that won’t hog valuable memory on your phone (only 2.5 mb large). Since it’s free, you should try it out today and see if you like what’s going with Streetbrew!
